Visiting the Sick
Part of the work of a Priest – and of a Parish community – is to visit the sick and to support their relatives.
It's important to let your Parish Priest know of sick or elderly people so that they can be given appropriate care.
The Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick is given to people who are suffering from the effects of old age, or from a serious illness (not just to people who are at the point of death).
Sick or elderly people – whether at home or in Hospital – may wish to be offered the sacraments of Reconciliation (also known as Confession) and Holy Communion.
This applies even more when people go into Hospital. Please do use the information above to inform the Hospital Chaplain of people who are in Hospital.
Please let us know as soon as you or your relative go into Hospital so that we can go to visit them.
Please note that confidentiality is strictly respected.
