JUSTICE & PEACE
JESUS CALLS YOU!
Dear Friend,
A few weeks ago, I shared a few thoughts on Justice & Peace. We had a nice response at the One World Night. I promised to move our efforts to a new stage. Basically, we are interested in finding new volunteers in this spiritual mission of charity at the heart of the church and our parish in particular. I find three basic scriptural texts very motivating as well as challenging.
Luke 25:31-40
Jesus clearly states, "When I was sick.... thirsty.... Whenever you do this for one of the least important.... you did it for me". It is wonderful to know that when we touch any life, we ultimately touch Jesus.
1 Peter 4:8
Here we are promised that love covers a multitude of sins. It is fascinating to know that efforts in charity through justice and peace can actually wipe thousands of our sins away. Friends, trust God to do just that.
James 1:26
James speaks of true religion. "To take care of orphans and widows in their suffering....". I think this is an excellent insight into the quality of our religious life and a challenge too.
If you think your heart seems stirred by these words of scripture, it might be Jesus calling you to care for the poor, the hungry, the less privileged and a host of justice issues. Kindly indicate below your interest.
